PORTRAITS NATURAL LIGHT PROJECT

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>This is simply an exercise inusing the light that is there - usualy by a window and often with little planning or time - it's invariably an image made during another event such as a conference.

I love natural light portraits and although some of these have been used in editorial, including Time Magazine, many are simply a personal project just for pleasure.

BUSINESS PORTRAITS

"Anyone who knows me will know I hate getting my picture taken but guy has a way of making you feel so comfortable.... and was so relaxed each time. Amazing photographer"
Y Doyle 5 ⭐️ Google Review

A business headshot is your personal brand shop window so you'll want to make you nail that all-important first impression.

Today, visual messages count for more than ever, and your Headshot is part of that message.

I can shoot business portraits for individuals to groups.

A business portrait will tell more of a story than a single headshot. It will incorporate information on the Business by way of branding or context. It will be a photographic story. A business portrait will be helpful if, for example, a business announcement is anticipated, or a business award is likely. The business portrait can also be helpful if a Press Release Picture is needed which is indeed the most common reason to be called by a PR Company or Marketing team.

Frequently a business portrait will be either a stand alone shot or part of a suite of images for future use.

If you wish your business portrait to help you stand out from the competition, or have a team whose images need to be consistent and shot efficiently, contact me to discuss your requirements.

"When the time came to update my photo, I could think of no one better ....Thanks Guy"

BUSINESS PORTRAITS BLACK AND WHITE

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>This is a collection of images which celebrate contrast and black and white images.

Cutting out colour, strips away unnecessary information - imagine many such images side by side. A lot of colour would be a bit distracting.

So this helps focus on the person.

This type of photoshoot is a great idea should your organisation want to celebrate, say, a milestone or an achievement.

Contact me by email to chat over any portrait needs to might have.

CASE STUDY - EVENT - UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE HONORARY GRADUATION 2024

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>I have had the pleasure of shooting Honorary Graduations at the University of Strathclyde since 2013 missing only one due to a conflict in the diary - these are always joyful occasions - the photographs are to be a mixture of formal, say with the University Principal, PR (to send to the press) and a personal record for the Graduate and their family.

CASE STUDY - EVENT - ST. COLUMBA'S HOSPICE DRAGON BOAT RACE 2023

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>This was an event for a (then) new client St Columba's Hospice based in the East of Scotland, near Edinburgh. The event was a "Dragon Boat Race" and lasted about 6 hours for me all in - the day was cracking for the event - the aim was to gather in as many photos of happy folk enjoying themselves as well as team shots for the participating companies. Then, of course, the images would be distributed by social media/liked/shared etc helping raise the profile of the Hospice. I have been invited back this year to shoot the Boat Race and have also shot another event for the Charity (a Ball) and have been booked for that again in 2025.

The images are delivered overnight to be ready for upload to their server at 0900 the following day.

CASE STUDY - CORPORATE EVENT ARMA 2025

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>This is a case study of a three day event I covered in Edinburgh in June 2025.

The event was based at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and the Evening Event was at the National Gallery for Scotland.

The aim in an event is to shoot interaction, fun, conversation, branding, location, colour and so on - usually the images are used to promote the event the following year so the event needs to come across as one "not to miss".

A short video was also made, 2 minutes in length.

The client was ARMA (Association of Research Managers and Administrators) and I was recommended to cover the event by their CEO Alasdair Cameron.

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY GENERAL GALLERY

(Guy Hinks Photographer) — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 00:00:00 GMT

]]>"I have worked with Guy for three years and have always been very impressed with the quality of his work....I would not hesitate to recommend Guy to anyone"
Louise Harley PR and Events

I have photographed hundreds, if not thousands, of events, mostly for repeat clients. From black tie event photography in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow to shooting a Fashion Event at Dumfries House (owned by HRH King Charles I have to add) to a modest one hour corporate event. I have vast experience in quality event photography. An experienced event photographer will find flattering light for the photo, choose the perfect position for the image and anticipate the action; as well as ensuring comprehensive planning and detailed communication with the event organisers in advance. The mixture of event photography I have enjoyed spans photographing HRH The Queen on the Royal Rota to events involving photographing primary school children with BBC Children in Need to music photography.

Give your event the exposure it deserves by contacting Guy for an informal chat on 07748046102 or by email.
